No Zombies in Resident Evil 4!

Hiroyuki Kobayashi - our hopes he did dashi!

Posted by Staff
It has come to light that there will be no zombies in Resident Evil 4, in news that has shocked and intrigued fans of the seminal horror series.

According to lead producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the villagers we have seen in shots and demos to date are not zombies, nor are they infected with any kind of disease...

Speaking to IGN, Kobayashi-san stated that there will be a significant amount of puzzles in the game, more action sequences than any other game in the series, no FMV with all cut-scenes using the game engine, a balanced mixture of internal and external play, a whole new playable character, and see some involvement from the sinister Umbrella Corporation.

We’ll bring you more as it breaks.

No zombies?

WTF are they going to name when it's released?

Resident Playmates / Biobuddies 4?

It is the case, is it not, that there is evil on this planet other than that personified by the walking undead.

Dude, Maybe Resi 4 will be set in Redmond, Washington, and all of the "villagers" will work for Microsoft. That would explain the sinister umbrella corporation.

And the puzzles would be the ones many of us face on a daily basis as we try to get Word to do anything we want, rather than something it thinks we want.

Would be interesting to play with the mad townsfolk having some degree of intelligence, if they were anymore cunning Capcom might have to rename this game The Wickerman. GC Biohazard remake was improved partly due to the Crimson Head zombies, these fast running meat chompers made a game that should have been easy much harder, along with plenty of other interesting extras. I reckon Capcom are just trying to build on this by pumping fresh ideas into the series. It's clear that Konami are kinda stealing their thunder with the Silent Hill series, but Capcom also have newbies like Fatal Frame 2 knockin at their door, therefore new ideas are needed. Another good idea is having the game set outdoors a lot, along with more space to move and shoot, there should be some large beasts to fight, minus the confined spaces and dodgy cam angles of previous games. Now all we need is a Dawn of the Dead game.....shut the mall doors, open the gun shop, and start the slaughter. That elephant gun is mine.

Dude you are soo right. I meant to mention the new DotD movie in my posting yester. But I forgot, because I am stupid.

A Zombie flavoured "Smash TV" where there's no way out until wave after wave of brain chomping undead is slaughtered would r0k. Where the only weapons are the ones you can find around th mall. The gun shop, of course, would have a protective sheild up at the door, and you'd have to find some way in before you could get the 12-guage.

I'd use a set of golf clubs, line up a driver at the zombies head and see if I could put a hole in one.

Lovers o sstealth games could entice the zombs to McDonalds, and kill 'em with food poisoning.

Strange you talk about McDonalds, Rod Todd, their food is bad enough to wake the dead. Hey, maybe that's why they are at the mall in DotD, they smelt the raw burgers, but they were so slow getting to the mall, that the burgers have been already cooked. Anyway I've chosen my melee weapons, the first is the Flymo so I can do some of them over Braindead style. And the second is the machete, so I can cut their arms off, and beat them shuffling moaners back to death with em. Sod the pesky knife, coz I got me some side arms.
