Codemasters Has Game Banned by Chinese Government

IGI gets the heave-ho.

In news breaking today, the Chinese government has banned Codemasters' Project IGI 2: Covert Strike, as it is deemed that the game "damages national dignity and interests", as reported in the official state Xinhua news.

China's problem with the game lies in its content, wherein the country is portrayed as a something of a rogue state that must be stripped of certain technologies related to weapons.

The title is now officially banned in China, though given the levels of piracy blighting the country right now, Codies' bottom line is unlikely to be seriously troubled.

In closing, perhaps China - if it intends to protect its perceived national dignity - might look towards addressing issues such as the ethnic cleansing of neighbouring countries like Tibet, and its shocking record of the abuse of human rights.

Two sharks in the Irish Sea: one says to the other, "I'm sick of eating all this tuna crap, let's go over to Morecambe and have a Chinky." Ha-ha-ha!

Dude, I may be an American. But even I can see the irony of the guy from Microsoft land talking about afronts to freedom.
