GameCube Dreamcast Syndrome Worsens – Midway Admits Title Void

US publisher has no plans for Nintendo console.

Midway has let slip that it currently has no short-term development plans for Nintendo’s GameCube, in the latest example of a feeling of apathy and caution towards the machine.

Speaking yesterday, Midway's US public relations office stated, "Midway is still selectively considering software for GameCube. However, there are no titles in development for the console at this time."

Although Midway is hardly the be all and end all of essential publisher support, this latest comment highlights the inherent problem with the machine: there simply is no operable level of third-party support for it.

Despite Nintendo’s best assurances of late, including an astute PR drive claiming the machine is almost sold out in the US, it is now an established fact that an all-formats release will see the fewest sales on the GameCube SKU. And it’s this reason alone that is harming development possibilities for the console.

Oh no! No Midway support - a crying shame indeed. I hear that Midway is going bust anyway... So who cares?

As a viable platform....the Cube is dead. Just look at the no. of titles NCL have released...Mariokart/Sunshine/Zelda/Doshin/Pikmin. Other AAA titles have been outsourced...Metroid/Mario Party/Kirby/Starfox (forget Rare).

If it wasn't for EA where would the cube be? It's 1st xmas at retail had Mario Party and Starfox Ad. The 3rd parties make more games than Nintendo, is this the difference they mean????

I hope I'm wrong.
