Phantom Console Legal Battle Hots Up

Infinium outlines case – not very astutely.

Posted by Staff
Infinium Labs has outlined its legal complaints against tech site HardOCP, claiming that its piece describing the emergence of the Phantom console and its reporting of Infinium CEO Tim Roberts, entitled, 'Behind the Infinium Phantom Console' is defamatory.

We have included the letter from Infinium’s legal team for your perusal, the content of which to us seems rather pedantic. It claims that HardOCP makes a string of innuendos against both Infinium and Mr Roberts, all of which need to be removed or corrected, according the firm.

The site, however, is not too impressed. In an open statement, its founder said, "The odd thing to me about the above letter is that it continually refers to statements we never made and innuendos that are non-existent in our article, 'Behind the Infinium Phantom Console'. In fact, after reading the letter I had to wonder if we were actually referencing the same document. Still, this is something that needs to be taken very seriously as we are obligated to hear out Infinium Labs’ issues with our article."

It continues, "As for the rest of Infinium Labs' demands, they seem to us to simply not be based in reality. They repeatedly note statements that we never made and seem to draw illogical innuendos from the facts that were documented by Infinium Labs’ CEO Tim Roberts' own website and resume. As for our opinions, they are clearly noted as such, and we stand by them."

Perhaps the best innuendo is still to come however: "Will Infinium Labs ever bring a viable Phantom Console to market? I honestly do not know the answer to that question. I will make you a promise though, if they do, HardOCP will buy one and show you the insides!"

Respect.

All this over reaction from Infinium Labs is a bit suspicious!

If they are all above board, they should just STFU and get on with the important task of bringing out their console, and silencing doubters THAT way.

But if they are just a set of con merchants, hoping to raise a fast buck with a stock float, then it would be VITAL for them to silence any dissenters, that might harm their stock price, by using heavy handed legal tactics.

Seems that Kevin Bachus has gone from one of the world's biggest and most evil companies to one of its smallest ones - but no less evil.

That is awesome!

Check out http://www.hardocp.com

I love the fact that Roberts, who is obviously a scamming joker, clears things up... "No, that company went bust after I left it, and that other one that went bust, that's not my fault either..." I heard he whistled innocently after making his defence...

I will bet something big and important on the Phantom being another way of Roberts, who seems to me to be a poorly disguised investment thief.

BTW, a friend of mine took this: http://www.haysam.com/mp3/burglar.jpg picture of Roberts leaving his pretend office to play golf.

"Dance monkeyboy, dance!" The poor, greedy short-sighted idiot that he is.

"Kevin, fancy helping us steal money from some investors? We'll only have to totally destroy your credibility and rubbish your name so that the next job you have you'll be asking about side-order and dip requirements."

I think that Spong should run a piece claiming that Tim "Obviously is a total thief" Roberts is a total thief. Look at the power-publicity HardOCP has gotten itself! I’m not the only one: Look! http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2004/20040223l.jpg

Dictionary.com says

phan·tom also fan·tom ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fntm)
n.

1.1. Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality; a ghost or an apparition.
1.2. Something elusive or delusive.
2. An image that appears only in the mind; an illusion.
3. Something dreaded or despised.

Seems to be appropriate

It would seem like an unfortunate choice of name.

But surely Kevin Bachus wouldn't go work for a company with no real product, set up purely to defraud investors of cash?

I mean I personally think Phantom (if it exists) has about a snowball's chance in hell. But it would be nice to see a forth player come in a stir things up.

And if they are just a scam operation, it would be nice to theink that the SEC can do something to protect innocent investors, and leprechauns.

That is awesome!

So this company exists purely to extort money from poor unsuspecting old ladies, who've decided that it's sufficiently long since Enron and WorldCom to risk "investing" their life savings again.

And instead of naming their console the "Dependable" or the "Reliant" they call it the "We're gonna f**king screw you".

I almost want them to get away with it now.
