Sega has announced that it will be releasing an update to the massive global smash hits Initial D Arcade Stage and its Naomi 2 follow up, Initial D Arcade Stage Version 2.
The game will be released into arcades in Japan on January 10, much sooner than expected, with western coin-op emporiums expecting upgrade kits or new machines before Easter.
Everything from the original game, Version 2 and Special Stage will be included, augmented by three new characters, four new cars, two new tracks and a glut of fresh car options.
It is expected that Version 3 will propagate a global PlayStation 2 release for the Initial D series, probably towards the end of this year.
