Britsoft publisher SCi has announced that it will be releasing Toby Gard’s long-delayed Galleon for GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC.
Intriguingly, the game, which was even penned in for the Dreamcast at one point in time, will be hitting initially as an Xbox exclusive, expected to be on shelves in time for Easter 2004.
Gard, former lead designer at Core for Tomb Raider, initially placed the Confounding Factor creation with French money-burner Interplay, with the result of the game languishing on the release schedules of Virgin and Titus for well over two years.
There has since been a trillion pieces of speculation that Galleon, proclaimed to be comparable to Shenmue and later Final Fantasy games in terms of size, detail and depth, had been canned, all of which were dismissed by Gard and the Confounding Factor team.
Expect the first new screens from Galleon to begin emerging in the coming weeks.
