Final Fantasy XII is a game that's been shrouded in secrecy since it was announced over a year ago. We know it’s a traditional offline Final Fantasy outing, albeit with various online functions.
This morning, a detail leak from Weekly Shonen Jump Game Weekly has seen the first information and images taken from the game.
Although European gamers are still waiting for Final Fantasy X-2 to be released, and FFXI hasn't yet even been announced, we can console ourselves with the fact that, when we reach retirement age, we might just see the twelfth game in the series before we're buried in the ground.
Final Fantasy XII stars two main characters, a girl named Arche, and a male character named Van. Be aware that according to some translations, Arche has been named Ashie. We’ll bring you clarification on this as soon as possible.
There is a definite FFX look to the game from what we've seen, perhaps hinting at some kind of crossover in character sets. Time will tell…
Unusually for a Final Fantasy game, both leads carry shields. Arche/Ashie is equipped with a long, curved sword and Van is equipped with a star-shaped gizmo of some description. Again, what this is, we can't tell you yet.
The only other concrete news is that chocobos will be included, with a chocobo knight seen clearly in one shot.
Expect everything Final Fantasy right here, as it breaks.
