There has been some speculation in recent times that Amusement Vision’s Xbox online brawler SpikeOut X-Treme had been canned - news that will have obviously made its way to the top of Sega, and to Toshihiro Nagoshi’s ears in particular.

Indeed, in this weeks Famitsu, the Monkey Ball famed producer sought to set the record straight.

“SpikeOut has not been cancelled, though production for this one of our games had been slowed down recently,” he said. “Finishing both versions of F-Zero took up the great majority of the team’s development hours, but I will say that SpikeOut will be released and will be fully online as I have always said.”

Other than this rather assertive assurance, nothing else was disclosed.

We’ll monitor SpikeOut and, of course, everything Amusement Vision and bring you updates as they break.
