Take 2 has stealthily removed Celebrity Death Match for GameCube from its release schedules in yet another blow to the console’s ongoing campaign to attract support from third-party publishers for more “adult” content.
The game, due to hit the US in the coming weeks, is pencilled in for release across all major platforms, though the GameCube version has now gone missing.
Although Gotham Games in the US has remained silent, the UK office today confirmed exclusively to us that all development work on the GameCube version has been halted and the game will not be hitting store shelves.
Although this is not the severest blow to Nintendo’s third-party push, it is symptomatic of the general consensus in the games industry that such content simply will not sell on the GameCube.
