Romero Midway move confirmed – Gauntlet gets Daikatana treatment!
Again, Internet gossip turns out to be true.
We picked up on gossip last week that the controversial John Romero was poised to move across to Midway Games.
Stemming from somewhat tenuous forum threads, no one was willing to comment on the move. Until now.
Romero, whose most recent act was to shame himself at the Nokia N-Gage disaster conference in Los Angeles last May, before going out on the town and trying to cop off with one of our girlfriends, is most closely tied to Daikatana, the game that came with the promise that, “John Romero's About to Make You His Bitch”. He didn’t, by the way…
Anyway, by way of his official forums, Romero has confirmed that he will now be overseeing development at Midway’s US studios, taking the position of project leader, with his first outing being a re-vamped version of Gauntlet
Romero’s current sidekick Tom Hall will join him at Midway as creative director.
Romero stated that MonkeyStone Games will now be overseen by Lucas Davis.
