Nintendo Europe has announced that sales of the GameCube have soared following its recent price cut.
Indeed, sales of the console were up by over 400% in just the first two days, not bad going for a machine written off as doomed by some analysts.
Sources at the firm’s Japanese HQ have also confirmed to us that the machine still avoids loss-leader status, claiming, “at this price, the GameCube is still in the black.”
“The new price for Nintendo GameCube is great news for everyone, ensuring the console and our great range of software is available to all,” said David Yarnton, General Manager of Nintendo UK. “The NINTENDO GAMECUBE library of games are unbeatable, and with all the major players developing exclusive and unique games for our system, there has never been a better time than right now to enjoy NINTENDO GAMECUBE.”
As you may well know, it is a sacking offence at Nintendo to just say GameCube, with the firm insisting that the full NINTENDO GAMECUBE moniker is used. What’s more, they have to shout it, really loud, which explains why all statements show the machine spelled out in capital letters.
Really, it’s all true.
