According to a report on Nintendo’s official Japanese site, Hudson’s upcoming Game Boy Advance RPG Oriental Blue was originally a Nintendo 64DD title!
The 64DD was Nintendo’s ill-fated attempt to bolt on disc capabilities to the Nintendo 64, with its legacy spawning both Super Mario Sunshine for GameCube, and 'free with pre-order' Legend of Zelda: Master Quest.
According to Hudson producer Ouji Hiroi, Oriental Blue was originally intended for the N64. Then a deal with Nintendo, eager to bolster the swell of apathy surrounding the DD, saw it get a lift and shift job to the doomed add-on, though for obvious reasons the game was never released.
Expect Oriental Blue in time for Easter next year in both the US and Europe.
