Nintendo and Dr Pepper have announced a deal that will see certain pop-fuelled Nintendo gamers immortalised within the code of an upcoming, and as yet undisclosed videogame.
As well as the chance to appear in the game (believed to be Animal Crossing 2) GameCube and GBA SP systems can also be won, as well as loads of free carbonated soft drinks with vegetable extract.
The promotion kicks off in the US in November and it is thought that co-organiser Cadbury Schweppes is considering a European follow-up.
“Dr Pepper is a one-of-a-kind soft drink, and this year we wanted to create a holiday promotion that really leverages the brand's originality and generates both volume and buzz with our 12-to-34-year-old target consumers," said Jim Trebilcock, senior vice president-consumer marketing. "Coupled with the fact that videogaming ranks high on the list of leisure activities of this group, a collaboration with Nintendo, the worldwide leader in interactive entertainment is an inspired match for Dr Pepper.”
The special packs of the caffeine-rich beverage go on sale November 1 across the States.
