Donkey Kong GameCube revealed
Just like Jim Reeves, we hear the sound of distant drums.
We brought you news last week that Nintendo’s new honcho Satoru Iwata announced in Tokyo that a deal had been struck with Namco to develop the next Donkey Kong game.
On the surface, this appeared to be excellent news. However, it has emerged overnight that the game will actually be called Donkey Konga, and will be a drum-themed music and rhythm game.
The content is still unknown, though various sources are pointing towards Miyamoto’s outspoken love of Sega’s Samba De Amigo as inspiration for this unquestionably strange decision.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that there isn't a significant Donkey Kong platform game in the works at Nintendo. It just means that, at this point in time, only the Namco drumming tie-in has been revealed.
