Fighting All-Stars throws in the towel

Capcom coin-op bites the dust.

Once upon a time there was a games company called Capcom that had a sparkling reputation for making great fighting games. One day they decided to fuse all their characters and ideas to create a huge new beat ‘em game called Capcom Fighting All-Stars. It was set to be released in the arcades where we’d all be reaching into the deepest corners of our pockets, exchanging tube fares and dinner money for some ‘hi-ryu-ken’ action.

Capcom proceeded to can the project. Boo! Then they released some screenshots, and said that it was back on again. Hooray! But now it’s been revealed that the project is back on the scrapheap. Boo! Again! They’re just toying with our emotions, callous beasts that they are. Presumably, the cancellation of the arcade title also applies to the never-mentioned hypothetical console conversions. You never can tell though. Perhaps we might see Capcom Fighting All-Stars move straight to console at some point in the near future.

We’ll let you know if and when it’s ever revived.
