Various Japanese news sources over the weekend have published an apparent announcement from Sega’s AM-2 development team, in which Shenmue III is finally confirmed.
From what we have seen, the game will be called Shenmue III: Special Edition, and will feature Shenmue, Shenmue II plus a new instalment of the seminal role-player, all for the price of a single game.
Differing reports state that the game is either going to be exclusive to Xbox, or that the platform has not yet been decided.
We’re not sure exactly how concrete this all is at present, though the considerable spike in Shenmue III gossip of late, combined with the fact that Sega recently overhauled its official Shenmue site, leads us to believe that something is brewing in the depths of AM-2.
When we get English confirmation, we’ll let you know.
