Vivendi Universal get Half-Life 2 – it’s official
Sierra issue statement – Activision out of the picture.
There have been rumours circulating recently that the final publishing resting place for Half-Life 2 is a mystery. Well, we can put a stop to this right now. The following is a statement issued by Sierra, putting the gossip to sleep once and for all:
"Sierra retains the worldwide retail publishing rights to key Valve titles and brands such as Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. It is unclear which titles are considered "other" by this release, but these do not include Half-Life 2 or Team Fortress 2. Day of Defeat is one of the hundreds of modifications that have been created for Half-Life, and will remain freely distributed over the internet should Activision choose to launch it at retail. And for those gamers who download it freely, they will need to purchase or own Half-Life in order to play this MOD."
