Washington imposes fines on games that depict violence against police
If you pause for a minute and look through the fog of glory surrounding the massive success that is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, it’s fair to say that, although the game sold well and is an amazing achievement of middleware in the face of adversity, its subject matter is distasteful in the extreme.

This being said, it is enjoyed by millions and easily slides under the protective arm of the American Constitution, making it practically untouchable to the outraged middle-American masses who in the past have turned their anger upon Space Invaders.

However, this has not stopped Washington governor Mary Lou Dickerson from imposing a $500 fine on any retail outlet supplying under 17’s with video games that depict violence against police officers.

Dickerson claims that it is her duty to protect the safety of law enforcement officers and that the bill was tailored to sidestep any objections made under the constitution. As yet, no objections have been received.
