In news that is older than the average hill, Namco has officially announced its signing of Spawn for a PS2, GC and Xbox, for release by the end of the year.
The background is that Namco originally approached McFarlane Toys to create Soul Calibur figurines. During meetings, both parties realised there was far greater potential in the deal, and Todd McFarlane's company saw fit to 'lend' Namco Spawn for SC2, whilst Namco would allow McFarlane toys to create the Soul Calibur toys.
Later on in the year, online news hounds picked up that Namco had signed a massive franchise. That franchise, was said to be Spawn. Now Namco admit it. The end.
The title will be developed by the studio responsible for Dead to Rights and Pac Man World 2, and will be shown at E3, where we'll generally be enjoying the fine weather and even finer games. More on Spawn, then.
