Nintendo of America has announced that its GameCube sales for February rose by 110% in month-on-month comparisons, giving the company a much-needed boost. Nintendo’s free game offer, combined with swelling excitement for Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker seems to have done the trick.
What’s more, the markets have reacted well to Nintendo’s deal with Electronic Arts, with the GameCube managing to engender the full support of the world’s biggest third-party publisher, widely seen as an essential requirement in today’s tempestuous industry.
It was also stated pre-orders for Wind Waker have now exceeded 600,000, a clear example of the appeal of the bonus pre-order system.
