Nintendos Voucherus Joyous!
Nintendo has announced a massive promotional campaign to support the European launch of its Game Boy Advance SP - a move that clearly appears to be geared towards also improving diminishing GameCube sales.

Apparently, the first 400,000 machines will contain a Willy Wonka-style golden ticket that grants £30 off GameCube Hardware, itself already the cheapest of the three major consoles and, in many peoples’ view, considered under-priced.

UK electrical retail giant Dixons Group slashed the price of the GameCube on Tuesday, bringing it down to £99 in all the stores it owns, including Dixons, Currys and PC world. Which means that, with a well-planned shopping spree, it will be theoretically possible to acquire both Nintendo consoles for a staggeringly low £159 - £10 less than a PS2.

However, the Dixons price cut was carried out specifically to determine whether it is to keep the GameCube on its shelves, in result of the machine’s post-Christmas sales decline, so they may not even be stocking them by the Game Boy SP’s March 28 release. Also, when quizzed on the subject this morning, the Pontefract branch of Dixons was unable to confirm whether they will continue to sell the GameCube, whether they will be stocking GBA SP’s, and also whether they will be able to accept the vouchers alongside their own GameCube promotion.

As always, we will endeavour to solve this riddle as soon as we can.
