Online console gaming: claims, counter-claims, and a world of lies
Following Microsoft’s announcement earlier this week that it sold a healthy 350,000 subscriptions to its Xbox Live online gaming service, Sony has hit back, claiming to have shifted 600,000 network adapters of its own.

This follows Sony’s constant bickering with Nintendo over, well, pretty much every sales figure Nintendo claims to be the fastest, biggest or best.

This has led to both Sony and Microsoft claiming that each other’s figures are not true sales, and that they comprise significantly of beta-test units and so on.

Perhaps one day they’ll realise that, as long as high-speed online console gaming is an affordable reality, we don’t really care.

Frustratingly, Sony is yet to lay down any tangible online gaming plans for Europe. Let’s hope that’s addressed soon.
