Following the immense popularity enjoyed by the Game Boy Advance SP at launch in Japan, the shiny new hardware has sold out country-wide.
This has led to intense complaints from both Japan’s retail sector and the games consumers at large, with both factions bemoaning the paltry 300,000 launch allocation.
Nintendo has reacted somewhat out of character and issued an apology to both retail and consumers. What’s more, Nintendo stated that it will be opening a new production facility in China, with the aim of upping the SP manufacture rate from 300,000 units per month to 500,000.
Not surprisingly, Silver SP units proved the most desirable to customers, and this being the case, more silver units will be made than both blue and black combined.
Nintendo is yet to announce how many SP’s it intends to ship into the UK when the machine hits shelves on March 28.
