Capcom Fighting All Stars at AOU!

3D fighter only offering – fully revised version planned.

In the latest issue of Famitsu Magazine, Capcom of Japan has declared that a revised version of its 3D beat ‘em up Capcom Fighting All Stars will be shown in playable form.

This news comes after the initial version of the game, shown briefly last year, was declared something of a lemon, with players reporting a clunky and ungainly play mechanic and complaining about the button layout.

However, the firm has stated that the game, which runs off the PlayStation 2 compatible System 246 arcade board, has been “greatly improved”, though the specifics of the improvements were not disclosed. What’s more, Capcom’s only new game at the show is Capcom Fighting All Stars, making its success paramount for the company to be perceived as a credible player in the industry.

Although Capcom’s Gundam Vs Join Deluxe was the highest-earning coin-op game in Japan last year, its rivals this year are preparing for a heavy onslaught of tried and tested franchises. Indeed, Konami is showing a new BeatMania game, a new GuitarFreaks game and a new DrumMania title amongst others.

Speculation that Capcom was poised to announce a fresh 2D fighter is now looking a little shaky.

We’ll bring you a full update on the news from the show as it takes place, on February 21-22.
