We have received word that nVidia’s latest and much heralded graphics card, the GeForce 5800 Ultra, will never be released on a large scale.
This is believed to be due to mass-production fail-rate issues with the unit’s FX Flow cooling system. According to reports, the cost of mass-producing the card has pushed it beyond the perceived maximum cost price of US$300.
This being the case, those that have pre-ordered and paid for the GeForce Ultra will still receive a unit, whereas standard retail will receive a cut-down GeForce 5800 400/800.
