MP caught on TV playing games

Wouldn't have been so bad if he weren't at a war debate...

A Norwegian member of parliament has been busted playing for computer games when he should have been involved in a crucial debate on the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.

Trond Helleland claims he only fired up his PDA to check his schedule, but found that a game of Metalion, which we can report is quite boring, too tempting to resist. It was then that the TV camera zoomed in on him, and broadcast him playing, for a full seven minutes, live around Europe.

"A member of parliament sitting and playing war-games in the meeting hall, when such serious questions as war and peace are being discussed, puts us all in a bad light." Said Labour Party spokesman Marit Nybakk. The error was undoubtedly compounded by the nature of the debate.

If only our politicians would play out their war games on computers to get their battle kicks, instead of bombing Iraq. The world would certainly be a happier, safer place...
