Peter Moore’s mysterious decision to walk out as president at Sega Enterprises America has been explained today, as it has been revealed that he is to join Microsoft’s Xbox team.
This unbelievable, or at least unexpected news, sees Moore join Microsoft as corporate vice president of sales and marketing, overseeing retail operations for both Xbox and “other personal hardware and software” in Japan and Europe.
It would appear that the firm has appointed Moore to oversee the next phase of its Xbox roll-out on a larger scale. Specifically, the Media2Go handheld, whatever it might be, seems set for a consumer unveiling in the next few months and the ex-Sega man will be charged with heading it up here and in Japan.
Speaking to Microsoft Europe today, all was quiet on the specifics of Moore’s new role, and what the “other personal hardware” might be. The good news is that our questions have been forwarded to a higher place, so hopefully the truth will out soon.
