Game Boy Advance SP: The truth emerges!
Nintendo of Japan has made some interesting comments relating to Final Fantasy Tactics for the Game Boy Advance, and in particular, the optimisation settings it will implement.

According to the firm, the game will have different screen settings, depending on which console you intend to play it on. There will be an individual mode for the original Game Boy Advance, the Game Boy Advance SP and the GameCube Game Boy Player, that will play through the TV.

This is interesting, in as much as when we had a hands-on session with the SP, Metroid Fusion was the game of choice, and there was no apparent need for change to the screen output. Does this mean that the mode for the original GBA will be brighter? Does it confirm the widely held belief that the SP’s Colour TFT LCD screen is far superior to that of the GBA?

The thing that really bothers us is that the SP is happy to run normal GBA games. They look great on the system, with the light on or off. So what possible difference to the game code can be made that will make a game look better?

It just doesn’t make any real sense. Does it mean that the SP is capable of producing a higher resolution screen? Does it mean that the refresh-rate of the screen is enhanced?

Whatever emerges, we’ll keep you informed.
