Accidentally coinciding with the Game Boy Advance SP announcement yesterday, someone at Sony let slip a titbit of information on the development of the illusive PlayStation 3.
According to reports surfacing overnight, Sony and Toshiba will again be co-developing the machine and employing Yellowstone technology, created by Rambus. Apparently, this will deliver a clock speed of 3.2 Ghz
Other reports emerging overnight paint a very different picture. The infamous “Cell” has been again bandied about, with a clock speed of 4GHz, producing 256Gflops, with the cells connected to the central 64MB memory through a 1024 bit bus. If you understand any of this, don’t worry. Just approach them, introduce yourself and maybe offer to buy them a coffee. Girls will talk to you one day.
Unreliable sources said that Sony was buried deep under the Nevada desert, dissecting alien cybernetic organisms in the hope of utilising the communication technology in the mainframe of Gran Turismo 4!
More on all this soon.
