Respected entertainment news source The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that several new machines will be unveiled at this year's E3 Expo in Los Angeles in May.
According to a report, Microsoft is planning to announce the Xbox Version 1.5, an enhanced console with video-storage support. It also says that a PlayStation 2 recorder linked to TiVo technology may be unveiled.
Furthermore, THR claims that a portable version of Nintendo's GameCube will be shown. "A portable GameCube device would bring next-generation graphics to the portable market - a market dominated by Nintendo with no competition from Sony or Microsoft."
Xbox 2 and a GameCube successor have been confirmed by their respective manufacturers for some time now. Even Sony has spoken, albeit in riddled tongues, about what might make up the PlayStation 3. Something about spaceship technology and a thousand supercomputers delivered in a machine smaller than a Chewit.
Only time will tell...
