Ending months of speculation, Sega’s AM2 studio, headed up by Yu Suzuki, has announced that the latest instalment in its seminal 3D beat ‘em’ up series will initially be released for PlayStation 2.
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution Version B, as it’s known in its arcade incarnation, features all the stages and characters from the original PS2 outing, plus two extra fighters, Brad Burns and Gou Himori.
As well as having a more balanced play mechanic, revised animation times and greatly improved graphics, VF4 Evo carries a swanky quest feature, as well as a glut of collectable items.
We can also reveal that, although it has not yet been announced, an Xbox version of the game is in the porting process at Sega. This follows Sega’s recent assertion to press that from now its key franchises must be released across several platforms to ensure the company’s success. The Virtua Fighter series, along with Sonic the Hedgehog, was specifically mentioned.
