Doom III preview code leaked

Carmack responds.

A pre-alpha version of the massively-anticipated Doom III has been leaked. As is becoming the norm with big-name PC titles of late, an unfinished version of the incredible-looking title has been illegally released, probably by a third-party dealing with id Software.

Series creator and uber-developer John Carmack stated, “This was not leaked on purpose,” he said. “Yes, we are upset about it, and it will have some impact on how we deal with some companies in the future, but nothing drastic is going to change in terms of what support is going to be available. Making any judgements from a snapshot intended for a non-interactive demo is ill advised.”

It would appear from Carmack’s response that a company involved with the project in some way has leaked the precious code, although this is yet to be clarified.
