PR your way out of that!

Acclaim shares slip by 42%

Controversial developer and publisher Acclaim Entertainment, has lost 42% of its value on the Nasdaq following the announcement that it expected to lose more than twice as much as it initially predicted.

Acclaim, of note lately due to its controversial PR stunts, has just released the much-loved Burnout 2 and Turok Evolution. Stunts for Burnout including offering to pay all speeding tickets accrued by the British public on the day of its European launch, while Turok saw a non-existant two month queue in London and gamers offered money to change their name to Turok. Acclaim’s US office tried to get expectant parents to name their children Turok.

Acclaim has also come under fire of late for carrying quotes taken from its own Rumbled magazine for use in its marketing.

This news compounds Acclaim latest problem. It’s key Christmas release, BMX XXX, has been rejected by some of the key retail chains in the US for having "inappropriate" content...

As ever, we’ll keep a close eye on Acclaim and let you know as anything happens.
