In a completely unexpected move, SquareSoft has announced that it has a brand new massively multiplayer online RPG in the works.
This game, according to our reports, will be similar in style to Final Fantasy XI and will be created for both PlayStation 2 and PC, running on the PlayOnline service.
“To step up the offering for Square RPG fans online, we are announcing a new MMORPG,” said Yoichi Wada, SquareSoft’s president. “This will be created for PlayOnline for PC and PlayStation 2 and will please fans of Final Fantasy XI. We are working for completion late next year or early 2004.”
This news has sparked intense rumour that Final Fantasy XII is already underway and is this new online RPG, as announced by Wada. We’ll keep you updated on all of this as it breaks.
