A new body has been set up to rate video games in Japan that will be similar to the ESRB and ELSPA ratings system in place in America and Europe respectively.
Known as CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organisation) the ratings will be recommendations only and will not form part of any law in the country, though this may of course change in the future.
The ratings are as follows: All Ages, 12 and Over, 15 and Over, and 18 and Over. The first game to carry one of the new CERO ratings is Namco’s Dead to Rights, rated 18 and Over.
