SquareSoft has announced that its soon-come massively multiplayer online RPG Final Fantasy XI is entering its final phase of beta testing, with members of the public openly invited to play the game to see if it breaks.
The PC version of Square’s latest lurch away from its closed-platform bread and butter gaming will be available to play throughout Shibuya and Akihabara in outlets of Necca, Japan’s leading Internet cafe chain.
Players will be given the chance to play in the FFXI world with limited accounts that will be terminated once the game hits retail next month.
As yet, no plans have been revealed to launch either the PlayStation 2 or PC version of Final Fantasy XI in Europe. We’ll keep you updated as soon as Square breaks its now legendary Euro silence.
