Today in Europe, Super Mario Sunshine is released, bringing to an end the torturous wait endured by legions of dedicated Nintendo fans from all around the continent.
The first killer title for the GameCube since Super Monkey Ball, Super Mario Sunshine is expected to power GameCube sales in Europe, as it has in the US and Japan.
“Oh my, I’m so excited about Mario Sunshine,” said fourteen year old Angelo Giletto, queueing outside a central London games store this morning. “I have been looking at everything on the game for months and now I can’t wait to get it home. I just hope that everything I expect from it comes true. From what I have read on the web, it’s better than most people expected!”
Mario is the first big Nintendo title to hit the GameCube since its launch and will be followed by Legend of Zelda and F-Zero GC, a game co-developed by Sega.
We’ll tell you exactly how well Mario sells and what impact it has on hardware sales as soon as the figures come in.
