Namco has stated that a new version of its massively anticipated arcade fighter Soul Calibur II is almost complete following a lengthy closed testing session in Japan and the US.
According to company insiders, Soul Calibur: Version D has made some significant improvements on the original, which is already on global release, taking coins hand over fist in the world’s arcades.
Version D will be faster than the original and will feature cancellable moves, specials and combos. It will also make avoidance of attacks easier, negating the need to constantly block an opponent’s onslaught. The run system will also be made simpler, as will the system that lets players use parts of the scenery to move around.
We are expecting the new version of Soul Calibur II, will be shipping to arcades in October.
It was also confirmed that the GameCube version will indeed be the Version D upgrade.
