Ikaruga, the 2D shooter created by legendary development studio Treasure, has caused a stir in Japan by entering the all-formats game charts at number two.
Although this might not sound too impressive, it’s well worth considering that Ikaruga, available at launch exclusively for Dreamcast, was only available through Sega’s D-Direct online purchasing system. This means that a phenomenal amount of pre-orderers and exporters formed virtual queues around the virtual block to get a copy.
In other news, Infogrames has further underlined its commitment to release a GameCube version of the game, on its Atari label, around the world early next year.
