SquareSoft of Japan has announced yet another game to spring from its resurrected relationship with Nintendo. The firm has announced that it has commissioned the development of Final Fantasy III, the RPG that first appeared on the NES in Japan only back in 1990
This well-liked title is seen as being the forefather of later games in the series as it was the game to [arguably] make the biggest leap forward in complexity and content.
Final Fantasy III contained many different vehicles and was the first game to demand high levels of lateral thinking from its players.
This news will no doubt come as a blow to Bandai and its recently released WonderSwan Crystal as prior to Yamauchi’s bout of common sense, all the Final Fantasy remakes were destined for this Japan-only handheld.
Expect to see Final Fantasy III at some point next year. Or whatever, you know Square...
