We are receiving reports that Super Mario Sunshine has sold rather well since its launch last Friday in Japan.
In fact, from what we can make out, the game has shifted an impressive 400,000 units, a startling figure given the relatively low level of hardware penetration the GameCube has suffered.
It is widely believed that Super Mario Sunshine will have hugely boosted GameCube sales in the East. The machine has been seeing an average uptake of around 7,500 units per week. Not bad, but not good either.
Next week’s Japanese hardware sales figures will make interesting reading.
