GameSpot UK has announced that it is being wound up, with immediate effect, by parent company CNet.
The closure of the UK outlet follows similar closures at the GameSpot networks offices in France and Germany.
One staff member will remain in place to head up GameSpot’s Euronews for the site, considered by many to be one of the best games sites anywhere in the world.
European games coverage will now appear on the GameSpot US site, though will still be updated at European-friendly times. Coverage will also shift its slant on the American site to include more Euro-centric titles, such as Soccer and Formula 1, neither of which receive due attention across the pond.
