Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced that it will double the production of PlayStation 2 hardware from the end of next month.
Talking to Reuters, group president Ken Kutaragi mentioned that to keep in line with projected sales towards the end of this year, the firm will double its PlayStation 2 manufacture rate from 1.5 million units per month to 3 million.
This massive upswing in output further demonstrates Sony’s massive dominance in the global market place and outlines its confidence in the fact that this situation is unlikely to change.
Kutaragi then mentioned that this increase would enable SCE to stockpile a number of units for future roll out.
