Way back in the dark days of January, we heard a rumour that Codemasters’ Colin McRae Rally 3 was coming to the GameCube, as well as Xbox, PC and PS2. It’s all been a bit quiet since then, but we can now confirm for sure that CM3 is coming to Nintendo’s high-powered vanity case.
Rally fans will be ecstatic to learn that a new edition of Codemasters’ leading motor sport franchise will appear on the GameCube. Colin McRae Rally 3 puts players in the driving seat with the one simple instruction: You are Colin McRae. This totally immersive edition of the best-selling rally motorsport game series puts the pressure on as the player takes on the role of the world famous driver as he’s given a three year contract to win a series of international championships for Ford.
Not only are Codemasters and Nintendo bringing what we believe will be the best game of its kind to the ‘Cube, but Codies have also pledged to bring three more of their key brands to the machine, namely LMA Manager, Shoot to Kill and Club Football, the series featuring fifteen team-specific games, featuring the cream of European clubs.
Mike Hayes, Codemasters’ Marketing Director, enthuses, “Codemasters’ ethos is to support the world’s most successful gaming formats. Nintendo has produced an excellent machine in the GameCube and we believe it provides the base for our developers to produce superb editions of these titles. Codemasters’ initial batch of GameCube titles will be available during 2003, with a detailed publishing schedule and further titles to be announced.
