In its two days on sale, the GameCube powered more software sales than any other machine, stripping a clear 46.1% of the next-generation software sales breakdown in the UK.
This compares to the 39.7% share for PlayStation 2 and only 14.2% for the ‘resurgent’ Xbox.
This is interesting, considering yesterday’s announcement from Microsoft that Xbox sales accounted for almost half of next-gen console sales. Clearly, Microsoft’s statement was made prior to the GameCube launch. Even so, one would expect these hardware sales to fuel software sales, but these figures show Xbox to be flagging.
