Infogrames has announced that it has fully acquired Shiny Entertainment, the development house currently hard at work on the Matrix for, as we exclusively revealed some weeks ago, all platforms.
Showing continued expansion savvy, the French publisher snapped up the firm outright from troubled Interplay. This acquisition consolidated Infogrames as a global player along with a developing publication deal with Sega and the resurgence of the Atari brand.
The deal, made for an undisclosed sum, will have injected substantial funds for Interplay, leaving it fully able to concentrate on Galleon, Icewind Dale and the Baldur’s Gate series, all of which will ensure the firm’s survival for the foreseeable future.
Interestingly, it is widely predicted that the Matrix games will be published under the Atari brand.
