UK Video Game Charts - Everything is Awesome
The LEGO Movie Videgame (which we loved) sits astride the UK Video Game charts compiled by Chart-Track, dominating a chart full of sequel, tie-ins and IP reuse.

The consumer has spoken - well, the publishers have paid for the development and marketing of this amazing selection of safe gaming and thus an illusion of choice is produced. The highest new entry is: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Now let's see what Chart-Track says:

The LEGO Movie Videogame builds on week 1 success with a second (half-term) week at the top (+7%), having also soared to the top of the UK box office in its first week.

EA’s FIFA 14 receives a price-induced sales kick, especially on 360/PS3, climbing 2 places to No2 (+22%). Activision move down 1 place to No3 with Call of Duty: Ghosts (-23%) with EA’s Battlefield 4 right behind at No4 (+15%), climbing 3 places from No7 thanks to price promoted last-gen 360/PS3 versions. Nintendo claim the highest new entry this week at No9 with Wii U Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Ubisoft climb 23 places to No10 as Rayman Legends (+299%) debuts on PS4/Xbox One, with the game now available on 7 formats.

Also debuting this week is Reef Entertainment’s Rambo: The Video Game at No21. Last week 5 games in the Top 40 were Lego titles – this week it is now nine with a further four older titles re-entering in the mid 30’s (POTC/Batman/SWIII Clone Wars/IndieJones 2). Aside from certain home computer versions of these nine, all were developed by Warner Bros Traveller’s Tales, dating back to 2007’s Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga’, currently residing within the Top 20. Combined UK revenue for just these nine titles currently stands at over £145m. LEGO as a brand stands at No10 in the UK revenue all-time Brands analysis, during the period 1995-2013.
