Dong Nguyen has some bad news for those sensible people who question the idea that video games are 'addictive' because it is exactly this contentious attribute that he says forced him to withdraw mobile gaming sensation Flappy Bird from sale.“
Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down
Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever," he has explained.
But that's not the only reason for the game's permadeath. The 29-year-old Vietnamese developer told Forbes, that his, "life has not been as comfortable as I was before... I couldn’t sleep." He also explained that, "his conscious is relieved; he spent the past few days, Internet-free, catching up on slumber."
He will, however, be back with other projects.
