Sledgehammer Games, which worked alongside Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3, is hiring for a number of positions related to development on an upcoming Call of Duty game.

In one of the job descriptions, the studio describes itself as a "AAA family working on a next-gen Call of Duty game".

Sledgehammer Games, which is owned by Activision, previously worked on Modern Warfare 3 alongside Infinity Ward after the latter studio's co-founders left with a number of staff. Previously it had been working on a third-person CoD game that would have moved the franchise into action-adventure territory.

It's unclear whether this next-gen CoD title will be another collaboration, a revival of the plan to move into third-person territory or a tentpole FPS with Sledgehammer at the reigns.

CVG does, however, quote studio co-founder Glen Schofield as saying back in 2011 that, "I think the best thing that could happen for Activision would be for us to both go off and make our own game. Whether that's a Call of Duty game or not is up in the air. I plan to continue working on Call of Duty."
