All-new Auto Modellista screens released
Racing fans smile. Cartoon fans grin. Fans of both weep with joy.
Capcom has released some beautiful screenshots from its cel-shaded PlayStation 2 racer Auto Modellista for your enjoyment.
Featuring licensed cars from Japan’s finest manufacturers of automobiles, these new screens display cartoon-esque versions of, amongst others, Honda’s S2000, Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution VII, Toyota’s Celica and Nissan’s Skyline.
But a Mickey Mouse version of Gran Turismo 3 this isn’t. Though the presentation of the game is cartoon-like, Capcom promises a physics model good enough to make Polyphony Digital dump its laser-mapping antics and scurry off to the nearest careers advisor.
The racing environments also deserve a mention. Looking like something of a cross between contemporary Batman cartoons and high-budget Manga releases, Capcom’s debut next-generation racer is shaping up really well.
